Ghost Hunting

Personally for me ghost research is has always been more than just a hobby, it is a passion. If you have an interest in ghosts and you are thinking about how you can become involved in ghost research then this is the article for you to read.

Ghost Hunting

In the last few years ‘Ghost hunting’ as it unfortunately been termed has become the latest craze mostly fuelled by the popular media. The publicity generated by the media has had its positive and negative points. On the positive side the general public have opened up and reported sightings and personal experience more than ever before giving us more opportunities to conduct research. On the negative side there is more fake evidence doing the rounds than before and unfortunately too many newcomers to the subject just looking for a quick scare that very rarely happen.

To conduct ghost research it takes patience, a lot of patience and time so be prepared to spend long hours conducting interviews, all night vigils, checking through video footage, playing back recordings, doing follow ups, analysing information and checking historical records. If you are prepared to put in the time and effort you will make a good ghost hunter. If you are simply looking for a good scare then hire out a horror movie it’s much quicker.

So if I have not put you off already then please read on.

What is needed to make a start?
To set up as an investigator of the paranormal, it does not need to take a lot of your hard earned cash for special equipment. To begin with you can simply go out there with maybe a basic recording device and note book and pencil and observe. Observation is the keyword here. It is best to avoid going off on your vigils alone for three main reasons. Firstly for safety reasons, secondly it helps to have an independent witness should you be lucky to experience anything and thirdly its good to have some company to pass the time.

 Where do I start?
The best way to find haunted places to visit is to research your local sites and obtain permission to conduct an investigation there. This can be hard work sometimes even for experienced investigators to get into a location. So for the beginner the other option is to join a local group. Listen and learn. Any experienced group will have a wealth of experience and knowledge for you to learn the ropes. As you become more knowledgeable and experienced with investigations you can try approaching a few places that you know of yourself. Be professional in your approach and this will open up some doors for you.
